15 Highlighted locacl artist Jo Haslo featured in the William Henry Jackson room at Scottsbluff National Monument.

(GERING, NE) Scotts Bluff National Monument announces Jo Haslow as the featured artist for the Artist Showcase through July 2011. Jo has original pastels and watercolors displayed in the William Henry Jackson Room of the Visitor Center.

Jo Haslow, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, loves the outdoors and the big beautiful skies of Western Nebraska. Jo finds motivation for her work through the beauty she sees all around her. Jo explored her interest in art and the natural world through a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Art Education from Chadron State College. Many of Jo’s artworks depict natural landscapes and nature. She loves to learn new things and often finds the more she paints and teaches, the more she learns.

Jo Haslow has been painting in the Nebraska Panhandle for over fifty years and truly has aneye for the prairie’s artistic expression. She is a member of the North Platte Valley Artist Guild. Jo hasshown her works at local art shows and as far away as Llano, TX.

Join us at the park for two painting demonstration programs Jo Haslow will be conducting. Shewill be painting in the park on June 18, 2011 and again on July 15, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

While at the park, take time to explore the exhibits in the Oregon Trail Museum. The park has nearly five miles of maintained hiking trails to explore. A beautiful drive takes you to the top of bluff summit, which affords spectacular views of the river valley below.

The Scotts Bluff National Monument Visitor Center is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. All Monument trails are open from sunrise until sunset. There is an entrance fee of $5 per vehicle. Bi-park passes cover entrance fees at Scotts Bluff National Monument, and Fort Laramie National Historic Site, which may be purchased for $15 at the Visitor Center.
